Full Width and Full Height Hero Widget

Hi,
I’ve been trying to add a full width and full height Hero widget to my home page but it’s not working. I’m trying to accomplish this full screen effect: http://rubenbest.de/
This is the website I’m working on: http://lunatree.be/test/
I’m no expert so could you keep it as simple as possible? :)
Kind regards
Bram

    How did you manage?

    Hi Plazmatic

The Hero widget isn’t really built for this. There isn’t anything in the Hero to make it autofill height which is what you’d need for a page like this. I haven’t done much research in this area so can’t recommend a plugin/widget, sorry.

Sorry we missed this thread Bram.

    Hi Andrew,

I don’t need to the extend that Bram did. All I need is just for the hero image to fill up until around the edges, footer and top menu bar. Like this one: http://hammerhead.io/ (Doesn’t need to be a video, just image). I’m getting white bars blocking the image from touching the page’s edges at the moment.

Can the hero widget be used for what I want or do I have to look elsewhere?

      Hi Plazmatic

Do you have a public URL where we can take a look at what’s going on? If you need to keep this URL private from other users, just select “Private Reply” on the bottom right of the comment box.

    Hello,

This is the page I’m trying to get this to work on: http://plazmatic.eu/welkom/

I want this to be the initial “homepage”. However, it’s more like a regular image container at this point. There’s still a header and there are white bars all around the hero image.

    Hi, I Work Here

The white bars around the image are the default left and right padding added by the theme’s style.css file. Is the row that the widget is inserted into set to Full Width Stretched?

    Hi, I Work Here

The top and bottom padding is also added by the theme’s stylesheet. This padding might be able to be removed by a page template within the theme or by Custom CSS. It’s perhaps something theme support can assist with our a developer.

    Hi, I Work Here

Another way to approach this might be to use a splash page plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/search.php?q=splash+page

With no offense intended, I think I will indeed switch to Splash Page. I installed it, it worked instantly: http://plazmatic.eu

    Thanks for the help!
