Why when I make a change on a page it just changes my formatting HTML code very frustrating. I changed an image and it got rid of some formatting I had?????
Hi John
Thanks for posting. Which widget are you working in when this happening? The SiteOrigin Editor widget? What HTML did you have in the Text tab that got altered or removed?
Hi John and Andrew,
I hope I can add to this thread with our, I’ve helped my wife with her WP site, experience lately with the SiteOrigin Editor widget.
First off all the components, WordPress, Widgets, and Plugins, used on the site are fully up to date. We have used the Siteorigin North theme. We have kept all widgets and plugins to a minimum and have only used reliable, well updated and WP compatible ones.
We have found that the latest update to the Siteorigin Editor the placement of an image, pasted from the URL from the media library, will automatically complete the html code to render this text as a link, and if one is using the “visual” tab it will preview the actual image. This is fine as is though when this process is employed inside a shortcode it’s changed state contradicts it’s function. With images we have had to be sure we always use the text and we need to be careful pasting in the image URL as even on the text side it can easily, and surprisingly, add the html tags. Also it is very difficult to use html character symbol entities inside a shortcode. Coding does not allow double quotation marks, for example: [tab title=”20″x30″ Scarf”] though if I use [tab title=”20"x30" Scarf”] the Siteorigin Editor changes the entities back to ” as soon as one goes back into the widget to edit anything.
Is There a proper way to deal with these issues? I don’t believe it’s the Siteorigin Editor’s fault as it can be an advantage to quicken html code as it does, though I’m sure many people also rely on other 3rd party short code plugins because they as well save on a great deal of repetition and sometimes complex html coding.
Hope you can help as this can become frustrating as one’s site becomes larger.
thank you,
John
Sorry that shortcode took on the html in my post above. I will try again [tab title=”20 & quot; x30 & quot; Scarf”] with no space between the “&” and “quot;”.
Thanks, John. With you in a moment.
Hi John
I’m happy to jump in this evening, please, could you open a new thread: Page: New Thread and send me the link once open. Perhaps you could let me know in the new thread, why you’re pasting an image link from the Media Library instead of using the Add Media button, I’m not really following that usage path.
Thanks
