Form Widget Messed Up After Last SiteOrigin Update

After updating SiteOrigin, the Visual Form Builder (VFB) form widget is not working correctly. This site is 3 years old and VFB form widget was working on all pages until now. Compare:

Good – https://www.precisionvir.com/vein-care-dallas/vein-symptoms/ (page built with Classic Editor, VFB shortcode in use, no SiteOrigin Page Builder)
Bad – https://www.precisionvir.com/vein-care-dallas/vein-treatments/ (page built with Site Origin Page Builder, VFB widget in use)

The form on this SiteOrigin built page looks really bad: https://www.precisionvir.com/contact/

Anywhere the form is on a SiteOrigin page, the VFB form widget does not display correctly. I tried removing the VFB widget and using the VFB shortcode inside a text widget, but that didn’t work either. Forms are embedded throughout this 102-page/128-post site, not just on a few select pages.

Developer, can you please advise? Other users, have you found a work around? Thank you in advance for any help!

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi DMedia,

I’m sorry to hear you’re having issues after a recent update. To clarify, did this issue occur after SiteOrigin Page Builder after the 2.9.1 update (23rd October 2018) or the 2.9.0 update (9th October 2018)?

Does this issue occur for the shortcode?

After SiteOrigin Page Builder the 2.9.1 update (23rd October 2018) is when I noticed it. The VFB shortcode works in Classic Editor outside of a Page Builder page. I tried to use the shortcode inside a Page Builder page by adding a text widget and putting the shortcode on the text tab. That didn’t work either. Same result.

    See this:
https://www.precisionvir.com/contact/ – VFB shortcode in text widget within Page Builder
https://www.precisionvir.com/contact/contact-us-frisco-texas/ – VFB widget within Page Builder
https://www.precisionvir.com/about/testimonials/ – Same exact form as above but outside of Page Builder, page built in Classic Editor

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi DMedia,

That’s odd. There haven’t really been any changes that should have caused this so I’m not too sure what change caused this. For reference, the changelog for 2.9.1 was:

    • Fix auto-excerpt output.
    • Layout builder: Fix ‘undefined index’ when saving before having added any widgets.
    • Layout builder: Prevent initializing multiple instances of widget dialog.
    • Prevent notices when style field is using ‘label’ instead of ‘name’ e.g. for checkbox field.

Can you please try rolling back to 2.9.0 to see if that helps? The easiest way to do this is to use a plugin called WP Rollback.

Well now I wonder if it happened after the 2.9.0 update. I’m looking into WP Rollback now.

I had to rollback SiteOrigin to Version 2.8.2. All forms work now. So I can’t upgrade SiteOrigin until this VFB widget bug is fixed I suppose.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi DMedia,

Thanks. I’ve tried running a few basic tests and I can’t seem to replicate this issue locally. Can you please send me an export of the form you’re using?

  7. 5 years, 11 months ago DMedia

I am using Visual Form Builder free plugin. I have 13 different forms on this site. What do you want me to export exactly? Not sure I understand.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi DMedia,

Any form that’s affected by this issue will be fine. If it helps, the one on the previously linked page (precisionvir.com/vein-care-dallas/vein-treatments) will do.

Please upload the export to a 3rd party file hosting site such as WeTransfer (no email is required).
