Fonts, font size and font color have disappeared from editor

Greetings – I too am experiencing the same problem as Vasily in the support thread at this URL:

Fonts, font size and fond color disappeared after update

It seems an update has caused font, font size and font color control to disappear from the SiteOrigin Editor. See a screenshot at this URL: http://smoakhouse.net/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/NoFontControl.jpg

I’m running the following:

Version of Page Builder 2.5.11
SiteOrigin Widgets Bundle 1.9.9
Wp: 4.8.1

Here is link to a screenshot of my instance of TMCE Advanced.

Thanks for any help you can provide!!!

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Jim,

Please navigate to WP AdminSettingsTinyMCE Advanced and scroll right down to the bottom of the page and click Restore Default Settings. Does this issue remain?

  2. 7 years, 22 days ago Jim Smoak

Hi Alex – Yes, the issue still remains after I restore the TMCE advanced settings to default. If I uninstall SiteOrigin and reinstall it, will the content remain unaffected in a way that the new install can read and edit? If so, should I try that?

    Thanks,

    Jim

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Jim,

It’s perfectly harmless to reinstall Siteorigin Page Builder – you won’t have any data compatibility issues or anything like that.

Can you try disabling all non-SiteOrigin plugins and see if this fixes the issue? You’ll need to clear all your caches after disabling your plugins.

If it does fix the issue, then try re-enabling your plugins one by one until the issue comes back. This procedure will help diagnose which plugin is causing the issue.

Once we know that, we’ll be able to look at what might be causing the conflict and either solve the problem or help you find an alternative plugin.

If you aren’t using a SiteOrigin theme, then you can also try temporarily switching to one of the default WordPress themes to see if the issue is theme related.

I tried deactivating all plugins (except for SiteOrigin's), clearing browser cache (there were no cache plugins to clear),
uninstalling/reinstalling Page Builder, and changing the theme to a standard WP theme, but nothing changed.

    Hi Jim Smoak

Would it be possible for you to create a temporary admin account for us so we can log in and take a look?

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Jim,

Thanks. Are you able to see the toolbars on the SiteOrigin Test Page I just created? I ask as I just tried and I’m able to see them without issue. If you can’t, can you please try using the account you created me to see if you’re able to see the additional toolbars?

  12. 7 years, 9 days ago Jim Smoak

Yes, I can see the page and the TinyMCE Advanced rich text editor.
However, when I switch to Page Builder and add the SiteOrigin Editor, I lose font control.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Jim,

Can I please create a backup of your website? I ask as I can’t seem to replicate this issue off-site.

  14. 7 years, 8 days ago Jim Smoak

Sure, go right ahead. I have UpdraftPlus installed if you want to use that.

That's really strange. This is happening on both Chrome and Edge for me.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Jim,

Unfortunately, your hosting provider is preventing me from doing the backup correctly (I can back up it, but I can’t have it be a 1:1 backup). Are you able to replicate this issue on another one of your websites?

  16. 7 years, 8 days ago Jim Smoak

Yes. I manage a site for a friend, and I can see the font controls on that site. I'm absolutely perplexed as to why this is happening…

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Jim,

Can you please clarify who you’re hosted with? I suspect it may be related to the server you’re on.

  18. 7 years, 8 days ago Jim Smoak

My site is hosted with 1and1.com. The initial install was done by their
WordPress install wizard. Everything has been fine with the SO editor until I contacted you, and I didn't install any plugins are make any big design or site changes prior to it.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Jim,

That’s one of the few major hosts I don’t have access to an account for testing. :(
Do you have another website hosted with the same host? Does the issue occur on that website?

  20. 7 years, 2 days ago Jim Smoak

I do. I went to add Page Builder and TinyMCE Advanced to my other site and realized that TinyMCE is not compatible with the latest version of
WordPress (I'm on 4.8.2; see image below). Could that be the problem?

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Jim ,

Did you attach a screenshot? If so, we’re currently unable to process attachments. You’ll need to upload the image to a third party image hosting like vgy.me or Imgur.

I can’t see anything that suggests TinyMCE Advanced is incompatible with the latest version of WordPress.

  22. 7 years, 2 days ago Jim Smoak

Here is a link to the image. Notice the compatibility statement at the bottom of the modal.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Jim,

Thanks. To confirm are you sure you’re using the latest version of WordPress? I ask as I just checked on a test install and I can’t see the same message. It’s also marked as compatible with 4.8.2:

Maybe do a WordPress back and then navigate to WP AdminDashboardUpdates and reinstall WordPress to see if that helps.

  24. 6 years, 11 months ago Jim Smoak

Weird. I can still go to TinyMCE Advanced as a new plugin in a 4.8.2 WP build and it states its incompatible. But after I install the plugin and I go to check plugin details, it states it's compatible (as you've illustrated in your screen grabs).

I re-installed WP 4.8.2 but no joy. I still have no font control. Were you able to get Vasily's instance of this fixed (from the other thread I referenced when starting this process)?

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Jim,

    Unfortunately, Vasily never responded. :(

  26. 6 years, 11 months ago Jim Smoak

Let me know if you guys figure it out. Until then, I can revert to the WP editor view whenever I need to manage any font or font setting changes,
then go back into Page Builder view. That won't harm anything and all data/settings will be retained, correct?

  27. 6 years, 11 months ago Alex S
    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Jim,

Unfortunately, that could very well break your page. To clarify, reverting to the editor should only be used if you no longer plan on using Page Builder on that page. As WordPress doesn’t allow for everything that Page Builder allows the conversion process (Page Builder to WordPress) sadly isn’t perfect and as a result – things can break during the conversion process.

    Be _very_ careful.

I would recommend seeing if you can use an alternative widget to use TinyMCE Advanced – Try Black Studio TinyMCE Widget.
