Floating Main Nav bar disappears behind Hero Images & more (theme: Twenty Seventeen)

Hi, thank you for looking at my thread.

I’m using the Twenty Seventeen theme and yesterday i tried to use the SiteOrigin Fitness Gym page template on the homepage of one of my clients. Everything was looking good until i scrolled down and realised that the floating main navigation bar disappears behind hero images and other assets. I had a look around and saw a lot of suggestions to implement a ‘z index’ tag. Would this be the easiest/stablest way? If so, how do i implement this and where?

Any suggestions or comments are welcome.

Cheers!
Charlie

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Charlie,

Yes, adjusting the z-index is how you would resolve this issue.

Do you have a public URL where we can take a look at what’s going on?

    Hi Alex,

Yes, you can see it at https://charliethornton.co.uk/digital-marketing/ and https://saragoodwin.co.uk/ . The client i want to put a pre-built layout onto is https://strawberryvibes.com so the fix must work for them also.

If there is a more comprehensive fix for this problem that takes longer than z index, i am happy to do it if it means less code bloat etc.

    Any questions let me know,

    Cheers

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Charlie,

You can fix this with some custom CSS. If you navigate to AppearanceCustom CSS, you’ll get our custom CSS editor. Just add the following code.

    .navigation-top, .site-navigation-fixed.navigation-top {	z-index: 101;}

You might also need to install the SiteOrigin CSS Editor.

Perfect, that worked even without SiteOrigin CSS editor! Thanks for that. I’ve just noticed another issue of this kind which is still causing problems, even with the fix. If you go to https://charliethornton.co.uk/digital-marketing/ on desktop and hover over the ‘Read’ drop-down while at the top of the page, you should see that some of it is hidden behind the hero image. Is there some custom CSS i can use to stop this happening also?

Thanks for your help so far, if you have any questions feel free to let me know. :)

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Charlie,

I’ve updated the previous CSS. Please replace the previously provided CSS with the newest version. How does that look?
