Float Masthead left

I’m trying to create a left sided navigation but I can’t seem to find the CSS to be able to float the masthead ?

Ideally I want to be able to add ‘Left’ or ‘Right’ to the Customising ▸ Theme Settings ▸ Header layout for my north child theme.
