Since a few weeks ago the Features widget of a sudden started to display the items on my website (frontpage= 1 row/3 items and Services page= 3 rows with 3 items each) vertically, after an update of SiteOrigin made at that time by SiteOrigin. And there is noway to get them displaying horizontally as they were before. My question is: is there any additional CSS to force the items to display vertically? Thank you in advance for your help and support.

Hi
Thanks for reaching out.
Do you have a public URL where we can take a look at what’s going on?
Hi Andrew,
Hopefully, you are doing well and everything is going smoothly with you. I replied to your request on May 1, 2022 via email as reply to your email, but didn´t receive any answer yet neither on this forum not to my email. The matter is however still relevant.
Kind regards,
Din
Hi Din
Thanks for the update. Apologies for the hassle, I’m not sure what happened? Perhaps Spam filtering… Email replies are a way of posting replies to the forum. If your reply isn’t present here on the forum thread then, unfortunately, it didn’t reach us. If you have a URL I can check, please, let us know.
Thanks again.
Andrew
Hi Andrew again,
Thank you so much for getting back to me on this. Yes, I do have a public URL, the following: https://dintravel.com
Please, note that the issue is still visible on “Services” -page. Originally, there were 3 rows with 3 items each. Now, as you can see, all the items display vertically to one column.
I used to have one row with 3 items on the frontpage with the title (Why Choose Us?), but was obliged to disable it because it didn´t look nice on the frontpage.
Thank you very much in advance for your help and support!
Regards,
Din
Thanks for the URL. The theme is quite involved in the Features Widget styling. When able, please, try establishing a working baseline as follows:
– If the site uses a caching or optimization plugin, start by clearing it.
– Temporarily deactivate all plugins except for Page Builder and the Widgets Bundle. In that state, does the issue resolve?
I did deactivate all the plugins on the site that might have caused the issue, actually, quite a few times even before I reported the issue on this forum, but nothing seemed to help. That is why I was wondering whether there is any additional CSS to fix the issue.
Thank you once again for your help and support.
Hi, the purpose of a baseline test is to deactivate all plugins other than the ones we’re troubleshooting. In this case, deactivate all but the Widgets Bundle and Page Builder. If a baseline can’t be found, if the issue isn’t resolved, the next step is to temporarily switch to a default theme. Once a baseline can be found, once the issue is resolved, the theme can be reactivated, plugins can be reactivated one by one and the source of the issue can be found.
There is a lot of optimization on the site so I can’t easily view the normal plugin folder and file structure. Using a default theme and only Page Builder and the Widgets Bundle, the Features Widget alignment should be working.
I’m online now. The above tests should only take the site “offline” for a minute or two. If you’d like to show me the site first with all plugins deactivated except for the Widgets Bundle and Page Builder, I’m here to take a look. Thanks.
I went through the page markup again. The width for each feature is printing correctly but the rest of the required alignment styling is missing. I’m struggling to recreate the issue locally at the moment. I’m working for another couple of hours. If you could show us the site with only Page Builder and Widgets Bundle activated, that would be a great first troubleshooting step.
Thanks!
Andrew
Thank you for your prompt response and for your precious help, but on the site there is one plugin that I cannot deactivate even not for 30 seconds, otherwise will loose all the content.
Sure, no worries. Do you mean that the content won’t be displayed when this plugin is deactivated and then the content will re-appear when this plugin is reactivated?
If you could reply to the above question and perhaps also send me the layout. That can be done from Layouts > Import/Export > Download Layout. Upload the JSON file to a site like WeTransfer.com or any file-sharing site like Dropbox and send the link. Thanks.
No, all the content (the main) will disappear if the plugin is deactivated and will not appear again after reactivation.
Is it a custom plugin? That’s strange; when plugins update they’re temporarily deactivated.
I am not expert in this field, but that what I understood from the plugin´s developer, therefore never tried myself to deactivate.
It would amaze me if that was actually the case. If you ever get the chance, make a clone of your site and set the clone up on another server to test. Some hosting companies can help you do this. You could perhaps ask your hosting company what it would cost to clone your site and run it from a testing URL like staging.yourdomain.com. You’d then forward any queries from staging.yourdomain.com to your main site unless logged in as admin…something like that.
Perhaps send us the page layout. That can be done from LayoutsImport/ExportDownload Layout. Upload the JSON file to a site like WeTransfer.com or any file-sharing site like Dropbox and send the link. Thanks.
Thank you so much for your help and support so far. I will get back to you as soon as I manage to do all the steps you required. Regards, Din
Sure, no problem. It should be quick to send us that layout. You’ll see the Layouts button when editing the page in Page Builder. You can upload the JSON file to Drive/Dropbox/WeTransfer, or any similar location and send us the file here.
And yeah, you don’t need to create a staging/testing website. That’s more an idea for the future if you wanted a place to test updates and test changes before doing the same on the live site.
