Featured Image not showing in single posts, only in loop.

Working on a website, using Vantage Premuim.

When I start customising Vantage, the featured image in my posts appear as normal.

When i get to the point where I place an image in the masthead, and make it fill the
whole of the Masthead, the featured image disapears in a single post, but appears in a post loop.

When I open a post, I get a brief flicker of the Featured Image, before it disapears.

Is there a conflict and can it be overode with a css snippet.
