Hello,

I am hoping to get some understanding of how the feature image sizing works. The theme on my website has just been chnaged so I am getting to know Vantage.

Some feature images get cut off when viewing the blog page. http://mykitchenwand.com/doggy-treats/
Others reduce in size to show the whole picture http://mykitchenwand.com/raspberry-tarragon-shrub/
And others show up horizontal but not as wide http://mykitchenwand.com/fruit-nut-cookie-flan/

It is the first one that is my biggest issue as the pictures are poorly cropped by what is happening and I have no idea what the determining factors are.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

    Hi Monica,

On the blog page, we set dimensions of 720×380 and it’ll be cropped if it’s larger than this amount. You can control the image settings by install Simple Image Sizes. Once installed, please navigate to WP AdminSettingsMedia and adjust the post-thumbnail size as desired. For your changes to be reflected, you’ll need to regenerate your thumbnails and clear your browser cache.

Thank you for getting back to me Alex S and for the information.

If the size is set can you explain how, without me making any changes, I have three different size photos on my feature images?

    In appreciation,
    Monica

    Hi Monica,

Basically, the image size is a maximum size. For certain images (such as the second one), it’s simply not possible to resize the image correctly due to the image sizes – more specifically, the aspect ratio.
