Favicon Doesn’t Want to Change

Hi,
I tried to use a plugin to insert a Favicon of my preference, but the icon stays the same. At the moment I have a logo inside a white square, while a preferred Favicon is transparent rounded icon like my logo in menu.
Do I need to do some tweaking in FTP client, perhaps?

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hey Artem

When you uploaded the new version, did it perhaps have the same file name? Can you try uploading with a different file name?

If you have a caching plugin running that I can’t see, try clearing it.

    Hi Andrew,

It doesn’t solve the problem, unfortunately. Seems that current favicon is sitting somewhere code and blocking the attempts to change by means of plugins, which I installed (RealFaviconGenerator).

    Hi, I Work Here

Would it be possible for you to create a temporary admin account for us so we can log in and take a look? You can create the account with the following email address:

    [email protected]

Just navigate to Users > Add New in your WordPress admin. Enter siteorigin for the username and [email protected] for the email address. Make sure you’ve selected Administrator for the role and enabled the “Send Password” field so we receive the details.

Once we’re finished taking a look, you can delete this account. We’ll let you know when to do that.

    Andrew,

Your credentials as a new administrator have been created and sent via email

Interesting thing happened right after I created new account: Favicon at the WP login page link provided above is the one I need, however if logged in with my credentials and on the main website it is not.

    Hi, I Work Here

Sorry, I made a mistake on reset and now am having issues with the reset link.

    Here are my other ideas:

    1. You could check your root folder via FTP and make sure you don’t have a favicon.ico file there. If you do, delete it.
    2. Try another Favicon plugin and see if you have better luck.

    OK, I will try that.

In the meantime, an email with a link to reset the password was sent to me. I created a new one as instructed.
Not sure I’m doing it right, please advice.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Sorry for the hassle.

Perhaps try a few more troubleshooting steps. If you don’t resolve then please, send me that new password here using the Private Reply checkbox bottom right.

Problem was resolved by means of deleting the image used for the old Favicon from Mediafiles in the WP admin panel. The old icon was automatically replaced by the new version set in the “Favicon by RealFaviconGenerator” plugin.

Thanks for your time and sorry I didn’t think of it earlier!
