Error:Unable to update-Inconsistent file permissions

Hi Folks,
This just started to fail the other week and only appears to impact “”Page Builder by SiteOrgin”” and “”WP Mail SMTP””.
I am running WordPress 5.5.3 on Synology and I first opened a ticket with them and they felt if was probably a SiteOrigin issue as only these two plugins were impacted.
Has anyone got any ideas what might be causing this and how a novice might fix it?

Below is the complete message:

The update process is starting. This process may take a while on some hosts, so please be patient.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi, thanks for reaching out.

Please, try going to Plugins and deactivate Page Builder. Next, delete Page Builder. Finally, reinstall from PluginsAdd New, use the search bar at the top right to search for Page Builder by SiteOrigin.

Let us know how you get on.

Thanks Andrew that worked for both the plugins that I was having trouble updating.
Would this imply that something got corrupted and hence the need to delete them and reinstall? If so, it gives me a little concern what might have caused the corruption.

    Thanks, Nigel

    Hi Nigel

Thanks for the update, I’m glad to hear you’re making progress. Our developer here at SiteOrigin let me know that Synology permissions can be tricky, it’s possible this is a file permissions issue. If the issue persists, please, let us know and we’ll advise further on checking file permissions via your hosting.
