Error with SiteOrigin Editor: Failed to load the form.

I am getting the following error when I try to edit a siteorigin editor block on multiple websites I am hosting at Godaddy.

I have read the other threads on this error and tried the suggested fixes with no luck.

Fixes tried:
Updated SiteOrigin plugins. Researched error on forum. Disabled plugins and cleared cache. Tested. Same error. Reactivated plugins. Installed Really Simple SSL per forum. No mixed content issues evident. Checked Wordfence security. Removed old plugins. Still giving an error.

Possible Issue is the new WordPress version 6.5.2
I restored a site backup to 4 of my sites and it seemed to fix the issue with those until the next day. The only thing that may have changed overnight was the wordpress version updated. On sites with wp version: 6.5.4 – I get the error. On the sites with version: 6.5.2 – I am able to successfully make updates.

Is this a know issue and will it be fixed? I have multiple sites having issues and I’ve spent hours troubleshooting.

Thank you, ~D

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Dhiller15,

Thanks for getting in touch. I’ve run a few tests on a few test sites and have been unable to replicate this result. Can you please confirm the specific block you’re using? They are the SiteOrigin Layout Block (with a SiteOrigin Editor widget added) or the SiteOrigin Widgets Block (with the Editor widget assigned).

Does this issue affect all SiteOrigin Editor widgets or specific ones? I ask as it’s possible for the contents of the block to cause issue with the block itself.

    Kind regards,
    Alex

I’m not sure your question, but I have the page layouts using SiteOrigin rows with the SiteOrigin Editor in the cells, and I also have the SiteOrigin Button. When I go to edit any block (editor or button) it gives me the error. I am able to add a new row and a new editor, it doesn’t give me the error, but I am unable to ‘update’ any page. When I hit update I get an error: This page isn’t working thassoc.com is currently unable to handle this request.
    HTTP ERROR 500
This is happening on multiple sites.

I’m happy to give you credentials to one of the sites if that would help?

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Dhiller15,

Thank you for the additional information. Based on your wording, it is likely you’re using the SiteOrigin Layouts block. It’s possible the server is blocking the request. Please reach out to your hosting provider and ask if mod_security (or an equivalent) is active and if so, are you getting blocked by it?

    Kind regards,
    Alex

To fix the issues on all my sites I had to revert the PHP version from 8.1 to 7.4

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Dhiller15,

All SiteOrigin plugins are compatible with PHP 8.1 (they’re actively made while using PHP 8.3), but it’s possible widgets (or shortcodes) added using our plugins aren’t entirely compatible. I recommend running a plugin conflict test to identify which plugin isn’t compatible with newer versions of PHP. Once you’ve identified the plugin having issues, I recommend reaching out to the author of that plugin to report this issue. For reference, here are our typical plugin conflict test instructions:

Please, try establishing a working baseline. Temporarily deactivate all plugins except for plugins authored by SiteOrigin. Does the issue persist with only SiteOrigin plugins activated?

If the issue persists with only SiteOrigin plugins activated, temporarily switch to a default theme like Twenty Nineteen.

The conflict test has failed if you can’t find a working baseline. If you can find a working baseline, reactivate your theme if you got that far and your plugins individually. After each activation, check for the issue and note when it reoccurs.

    Kind regards,
    Alex
