error using visual page editor, wants to only use page builder

Using the Reading settings, I set up a static home page and designated another page that all of my posts should be published to. However, when I designated that page for posts, it automatically changed it to page builder and now will not let me use the regular visual editor. It is also not displaying any of my posts.

Something maybe worth noting, when I logged in today to work on the site it was very adamant about me updating the SiteOrigin widget plugin. Don’t know if that has anything to do with it or not, but I wasn’t having this problem before today.

This is incredibly frustrating, and any help is much appreciated.

    Hi Natasha,

    I can assure you we haven’t made any changes that enforce the Page Builder on any pages. It should also be noted that we only make use of the WordPress update system. Could you elaborate on anything that was non-typical about the update process?

    This sounds like it could be a plugin conflict issue. Can you try disabling all non-SiteOrigin plugins and see if this fixes the issue? You’ll need to clear all your caches after disabling your plugins.

    If it does fix the issue, then try re-enabling your plugins one by one until the issue comes back. This procedure will help diagnose which plugin is causing the issue.

    Once we know that, we’ll be able to look at what might be causing the conflict and either solve the problem or help you find an alternative plugin.

    If you aren’t using a SiteOrigin theme, then you can also try temporarily switching to one of the default WordPress themes to see if the issue is theme related.

    Hi Alex,

    Thank you for taking the time to respond.

    I didn't notice anything unusual about the update (no error messages,
    glitches, etc.)

    I tried disabling all of the plugins and clearing the caches, but the same problem still persists.

    Also, I'm running the Vantage theme, which I believe is a SiteOrigin theme.

    I don't know if these images will show up in the thread or not, but I'm pasting screenshots of what I'm seeing. The first one is supposed to be my post page. In the column on the right, it's displaying Recent Posts (just test posts with a few words in them) but it isn't displaying anything in the actual body of the page.

    This next screenshot shows what I'm seeing in the dashboard when I try to edit the page. It's giving me no options. Also, I noticed that in the Page
    Settings, it says to select Default template in the Page Attributes, but there are no template options.

    Preface: We do have a theme called Vantage and it’s very likely you’re using ours.

    Sadly no the images didn’t come through. :( Could you upload them to a third party image hosting like imgur.com and reply with them? Very sorry about this! :(

    Thank you. You only linked one of the images however. Could you link the other one if it still applies?

    I suspect there’s something wrong with your theme install based on the image however. Have you made any edits to the theme’s files? Please try reinstalling the theme by navigating to WP AdminAppearanceThemes and then switching to a non-Vantage Theme. Then delete Vantage and click Add New. Search for Vantage (it’ll be by Greg) and reinstall it. Let me know if this issue is still happening.

    I have not edited any of the theme files. I just went through the steps you recommended, and am seeing no change in the issue. It continues to do the same thing in a different theme (I used just the default WordPress 2015 theme) and in the re-installed Vantage theme.

    I just tried both a different computer and a different browser (firefox instead of chrome), still the same results unfortunately.
