Error messages on update

Hi, I’m getting this error message about 90% of the time I publish an update to my site.. The message is “The site is experiencing technical difficulties. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions.”

Most times the update doesn’t happen, but sometimes it does, despite the error message. I’m not getting any emails to my site admin inbox so I don;t know what the issue is.

Any thoughts?

    Hi Colin

If possible, it would be best to enable error logging to see what the issue is. It’s a slightly technical task. If you’re feeling up for it, here is how: https://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-set-up-wordpress-error-logs-in-wp-config/.

Hi Andrew, thanks for the link with the advice, which I followed. I then got a much more helpful error message: PHP Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 48261 bytes) in /home/[accountname]/public_html/wp-includes/wp-db.php on line 1550
So it turned out to be a memory limit issue, which my webhost sorted out. All running smoothly now.
