Error message – You need a higher level of permission

I have recently been asked to help a non-profit organisation.

As a SuperUser admin, when trying to access Plugins, all I see are SiteOrigin widgets.

Also, when I try and access Appearance, I get the error message “You need a higher level of permission.
Sorry, you are not allowed to customize this site.”

Is this because we are running the free version of SiteOrigin ?

If so, how do we backup the website without being able to download WP plugins.

I cannot even see what theme we are running.

    Hi Hymie,

    Very sorry for the delay.

    Which hosting provider are you with? Is this a dedicated WordPress install or is this site being run off of a Multisite?

    As for the Appearance menu, unfortunately, I’m not sure why this is happening. SiteOrigin Page Builder doesn’t add or modify the Appearance menu in any way so we’re unsure why you’re experiencing this issue.
