I am having trouble playing the embedded video in my home page on any mobile device when I go away from my home page and come back to it.

Using Chrome iOS it seems ok for me. I viewed the home page, didn’t play the video, viewed the History page then clicked back to Home and played the video. Are these the steps you took?
You could perhaps consider hosting the video on YouTube or Vimeo and see if you get a different result on your side.
