Email notifications from new comments and subscriptions

10 years ago · Last reply by Andrew Misplon 10 years ago

Hello Andrew,

Once again, congrats on a great theme.

I am opening a new thread because I can’t find a solution for a problem I am experiencing with notifications.

First off. Emails from the website generally work, I use contact form 7 and am receiving all the emails.

What is happening is that I setup the “discussion” options to email me any time someone makes a comment. Neither the admin, the commenter, or the author of the post receive any notifications.

There is an email we do receive, but it works oddly. When a user subscribes to the website or the post, the admin receives a notification as if it was the admin himself to have subscribed.
The user receives a notification as well. ALL these emails link to a …/wordpress link that does not exists.

I am using Jetpack for comments handling. I deactivated all spam filtering plugins and the problem remained. Currently Akismet is on, but I tried to unistall it and the problem was not resolved.

In summary, the current issue is:
1) no notifications of new messages (we have to check into the site dashboard all the time to figure out if someone is awaiting moderation)
2) subscription emails link to a wrong …/wordpress address and are sent to both the user and the admin as if the admin is the user (although the emails look different!)

I hope we can figure this out!

All the best!

    Hi The other Platt

    Thanks for reaching out.

I, unfortunately, don’t know what the issue off hand. As a possible quick fix I suggest trying:

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/wpmandrill/
    http://mandrill.com/

We use it here at SiteOrigin and I’ve used on many other projects. It’s a fantastic service from MailChimp that leverages the Amazon Simple Email Service. There are loads of advantages to using it. Give it a go and let us know how you come along.
