Editing in SiteOrigin Editor messes up entire row

My site uses Vantage Theme plus SiteOrigin Page Builder

The page content is a single row with two columns. The left column contains various navigation-related widgets that create a single-page sidebar. The right column contains the SiteOrigin Editor.

The page worked great yesterday. Today I changed one character in the text in the right column. Now the page displays with all the content showing up in the left-hand column and the right-column empty. Looking at the page in edit view looks fine… the SiteOrigin Editor is still in the right-hand column.

When comparing the versions I see the change I made, updated time stamp, and changes in the groupids

Worked:

{“title”:””,”count”:””,”display_avatar”:false,”groupids”:”[u00221u0022,u00222u0022,u00223u0022,u00225u0022]”,”panels_info”:{“class”:”wpForo_Widget_online_members”,”grid”:0,”cell”:0,”id”:3,”widget_id”:”ac14e348-c606-41ff-a3cd-3b9903e03791″,”style”:[]}},{“title”:””,”text”:”u003cp style=u0022text-align: center; font-size: 1.6em;u0022u003eModule 8

Changed “Module 8” to “Module 7” (see the change at end of extracted code) and now have this, which doesn’t work:

{“title”:””,”count”:””,”display_avatar”:false,”groupids”:”[u0022["1","2","3","5"]u0022]”,”panels_info”:{“class”:”wpForo_Widget_online_members”,”grid”:0,”cell”:0,”id”:3,”widget_id”:”ac14e348-c606-41ff-a3cd-3b9903e03791″,”style”:[]}},{“title”:””,”text”:”u003cp style=u0022text-align: center; font-size: 1.6em;u0022u003eModule 7

    Hi Lisa Swallow

Would it be possible for you to send me an export for this widget? To export a page, please open up the linked page in the editor and click the Layout button in the Page Builder toolbar. Then click import/export and then click download. Please upload the export to a 3rd party file hosting site such as WeTransfer (no email is required).

Also, do you have a public URL where we can take a look at your current layout?

No Page Builder toolbar is visible, so I can't see how to export. If you can tell me what to do to get the toolbar visible, I'll be happy to get you an export.

Here's a link to one of the pages exhibiting this behavior:

Here are some screen captures of note: First the page open in the editor:

Next proof Page Builder is activated:

    Hi Lisa,

The Page Builder toolbar looks like this for the SiteOrigin Layout Block:

The Page Builder toolbar looks like this for Classic Editor SiteOrigin Page Builder?

Unfortunately, we’re unable to process attachments at this time. Can you please upload your screenshots to an Image hosting service like vgy.me, or Imgur?

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Lisa,

Thanks. I’ve run a few tests with the provided layout and it’s working without issue for me. Does importing the layout to the page you linked correct the layout issue for you?

    Hi Alex,

No, I just tested it and importing the layout I sent you did not correct the issue.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Lisa,

Thanks. I’m not able to replicate this issue with the provided layout. I suspect you may be facing a plugin conflict. Can you try disabling all non-SiteOrigin plugins and see if this fixes the issue? You’ll need to clear all your caches after disabling your plugins.

If it does fix the issue, then try re-enabling your plugins one by one until the issue comes back. This procedure will help diagnose which plugin is causing the issue.

Once we know that, we’ll be able to look at what might be causing the conflict and either solve the problem or help you find an alternative plugin.

If you aren’t using a SiteOrigin theme, then you can also try temporarily switching to one of the default WordPress themes to see if the issue is theme related.

    Thanks, Alex.

The theme is Vantage (SiteOrigin) but I can still try switching to a default theme. I have developed a work-around, which is to switch to a single column, and have done that on all my other pates. Unless you WANT to try to track this issue down, I will just move to that and drop this investigation until I run into it again. I love working with SiteOrigin plugins and Vantage is currently my favorite theme and I really hope this isn't anything serious.

Thanks for your help. I will leave it up to you as to how to proceed.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Lisa,

Oh sorry, I had meant to remove that part of my reply. Vantage isn’t the cause of this issue, I was using it while testing.

Great to hear you were able to find a workaround. If you would like to identify the cause of the issue, it would be worth doing a plugin conflict test. If not, that’s completely fine. Let me know if you would like to pick this up again.
