Domain mapping: Siteorigin Google-Maps widget not working

Hi there,

I use the siteorigin pagebuilder and bundle in a multisite network with domain mapping. The google-maps widget worked fine at the original subdomain without API-key but after domain-mapping the maps not shown anymore. To solve the problem I add an API-key to the widget but the maps are not working again. Please have a look at the site: https://concept-makler.info/kathrin-stroeber-details/

Thanks in advance,

Kathrin

    Hi Kathrin,

I just had a quick look at your website and it looks like you’ve resolved this issue. Is this the case? If not, can you please view the linked page and could you please send me the contents of your console? Please refer to this guide on how to access your browser console.

    Hi Alex,

thanks for your reply! It’s true, we resolved the problem. At the same day we mapped the subdomain to a tld, the google-maps widget stop working. It’s clear we saw a connection but isn’t it. The issue was that Google stops for this domain the free use without API-key, maybe the number of inquieries was to high in less time. We red about API is required here, but nothing about that: To make siteorigin google-maps widget work well, it’s necessary to have a “Google-Maps Embed API-Key“. We test different API’s but only the Embed-API works!

If you don’t want to publish this solution here (I would understand this), please delete the topic.

    Have a nice day,

    Kathrin

    Hi Kathrin,

Ah. Previously (read: When you set the widget up initially) Google didn’t require an API key. Well, they do now. As the domain has changed you’re no longer given a legacy pass and require an API key.

If you would like to use a dynamic map, please please create an API key through this page.
If you would like to use a static map, please please create an API key through this page

Once you’ve generated the API, simply add it to your Google Maps widget.
