Do I need to make a Child Theme?

I am currently using the Vantage Theme. I will only be making minor edits to the CSS manually, most of the changes will be through plugins, so I feel a child theme might be overkill. I’d like to know whether newer versions of Vantage will overwrite changes I make to the theme via plugins or manual CSS editing?

I would prefer not to have to go the child theme route but if it’s recommended then I will.

Kindly,

Wesley

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Wesley

Once you move over to Pro we handle updates from our own servers. The update process is however the same as updates from WordPress.org, the entire theme folder gets overwritten. Under Appearance you’ll find a Custom CSS item, that’s were your edits need to go to stay upgrade safe. Here is our tutorial on the topic: https://siteorigin.com/basics/modifying-theme-design-with-custom-css/

    Hope that helps.
