Hello!
I’d like to have the central text area be white with black text, and then be able to make the “unused” sides of my pages be either black or a different color, or an image.
I can’t figure out how to do this, and have also tried some plug-ins, no luck. I can only seem to get strips of color that run along the whole horizontal length of the page.
Here’s the website I’m working on, for reference – mwgaul.com.
If Vantage won’t allow for this, is there another theme to which I can migrate without tearing up my work? I have not edited any CSS or such.
Thanks!
Matt
Hi Matt
If you head to Appearance > Home Page or any page and click on the Page Builder tab, insert a row and click on the second button on the right, that’s the row style button. You can create a style that has a black background. The result will be a black version of the grey row style you see here: http://demo.siteorigin.com/vantage/ under the slider.
Thanks for the reply. But what I’m trying to do is not have the same color all the way across the page. Like this website, for example – http://remnantofremnant.blogspot.com/?m=1
Like that site I want white behind the text but a different color in the margins.
That’s quite a specific style you’re after. You could opt for the boxed site layout at Appearance > Theme Settings > Layout Bound and select your overall site background color. You could use the row style selector to choose a white background and a top and bottom border for each row that’s a different color. The borders will unfortunately only be 1px each and this layout won’t be achievable on posts, only pages. That’s about the limit of Vantage in this regard.
The “layout bound” fix seems to do the trick, thanks!
For sure, glad that helped.
