delete Influence theme slider

By cmoore, 5 years ago. Last reply by Alex S, 5 years ago.

Hi, how do I delete the huge slider at the top of the theme, so all I have is a bit of text on the homepage?

    Hi Cmoore,

Please navigate to WP AdminAppearanceCustomize, Theme DesignHome Page and set the Home Slider to None. Save. How does that look?

Thanks, I tried that before I wrote. Didn’t work. I was also surprised there was no way to save that choice.

    Hi Cmoore,

I just tried the above-outlined steps and it’s working for me.
After selecting None, you’ll need to click Publish to save the customizer. If that doesn’t work, please try manually removing the contents of the Home Slider field and saving that.

Thanks again; I had published also, to no avail. And believe it or not, now I can’t even find the homepage again!

Second problem is, after experimenting, I have no idea how to manually remove the contents of that field.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Cmoore,

I would double check your Front Page settings are set up correctly. This can be done by navigating to WP AdminSettingsReading.

The Drop Down field interacts with the Home Slider field. You can remove the contents by clicking into the Home Slider text field (which is above the drop down), select all text and then delete the text.

If that doesn’t work, please clear the page cache for caching systems you may have set up.

Are you using the latest version of Influence? For reference, the latest version is 1.2.2.

I don’t seem to have a dropdown, except for those short ones shown. I hid my actual homepage. No caching set up yet. Using latest version.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Cmoore,

The Dropdown is just below the Home Slider text field and can be seen in the screenshot in my last reply (here’s a direct link).

If that’s not what you’re seeing, can you please show me a screenshot of what you see when you navigate to WP AdminAppearanceCustomize, Theme SettingsHome Page?

Alex, after going over your last two answers a couple more times, it worked. Thank you very much. Closed!
