When I upload a featured image to a blog post that is 1200×700 in size I notice that six additional size images are created:
272×182
450×263
720×380
768×448
960×480
1080×380
I assume the Vantage theme is creating all these extra sizes because in my WordPress Media Settings I have everything set to “0”, which I understand is a fix that stops WordPress from creating lots of different size images.
So if Vantage is making these extra images, are all the different sizes absolutely necessary? The blog I’m working on will probably contain many images so having all those duplicates will start to eat up lots of space over time.
Is there something I can add or change in functions.php to address this? (I’m using the Vantage Child Theme).
Or should I change the size of the featured images I create? I’m not 100% tied to 1200×700 but I would like to stick with that general proportion if possible.
Hi Beachguy,
Vantage adds the following image sizes:
The SiteOrigin Widgets Bundle adds the following image sizes:
I would use Simple Image Sizes to manage the image sizes. Once installed, please navigate to WP AdminSettingsMedia and you’ll have more options.
By the way, as you’re a premium user, you’re entitled to priority email support. If you would like to make use of that, please follow the instructions found on your Page: Dashboard (please refer to the support tab). Please reference this thread and include your SiteOrigin order key in the email.
