I have made several changes to Vantage in the “Customizer” to “Theme Settings” and “Theme Design”.
It works fine, when no child theme is active!
But when I acivate my Child theme:
Changes that I make in “Theme Design” (fonts, font-sizes, link-colors etc) are NOT working.
But changes made in “Theme settings” works ok!
My Child theme stylesheet has no settings for fonts, font-sizes, link-colors etc, so that is not the problem.
In Developer Tools I have seen, that there may be a problem with inline styles (id=”customizer-css”). It seems that the settings from “Theme Design” are not present, when a Child theme is active.
Is this a bug? And if so: will it be fixed?
Hi Orion56,
Just to clarify, is the issue that the settings present (ie. visible) or that your selected settings haven’t carried over from the parent theme?
If it’s the latter, this is a WordPress quirk. You’ll need to manually move over the parent customizer settings with the help of a plugin like Customizer Export/Import
If it’s the former, can you try disabling all non-SiteOrigin plugins and see if this fixes the issue? You’ll need to clear all your caches after disabling your plugins.
If it does fix the issue, then try re-enabling your plugins one by one until the issue comes back. This procedure will help diagnose which plugin is causing the issue.
Once we know that, we’ll be able to look at what might be causing the conflict and either solve the problem or help you find an alternative plugin.
I have found out, that it is a common issue, that changes made in “Customizer” -> “Theme Design” will not survive, when activating a child theme. And that I can make them survive by applying them again when the child theme is active.
And it’s the same for themes from other designers than Siteorigin.
So I excuse for the time you have used on this issue.
