Custom homepage completely disappeared

Hi there!

The custom homepage I build for one of my websites has completely reset for the SECOND time since I purchased the theme two years ago. I don’t know when or why this happens – but it typically resets to Custom Home page “OFF” – and all the text and formatting I’ve created (which, takes hours to create) has completely disappeared.

Could you please let me know why this happens, and how to fix it?

The theme I’m using is Vantage Premium.

Thanks!

Noelle

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Noelletarr

Really sorry to hear about the hassle. There was a brief period where Vantage was impacted by this specific problem. It’s been resolved. How to fix for your current sites?

    1. For the site that just lost the home page, if possible, a hosting roll back would be ideal. That would restore the site to it’s state before the problem. Many hosting companies keep 7 days of backups.

    2. Once rolled back or for other sites running old Vantage and Page Builder, do this:

    a. Go to Pages and create a page called Home if one isn’t there already.
    b. Click on the Page Buidler tab and clone the existing home page and safe. You can leave this page as Private or a Draft. It’s our backup.

    3. Run all pending upgrades from Dashboard > Updates. If the Custom Home issue occurs you can clone the backup page we previously created OR go to Settings > Reading and set the backup as your new home page.

Apologies for the hassle. This was fixed a while ago but, unfortunately, will continue to impact sites not yet upgraded to the latest version of Vantage/WordPress/Page Builder.

Let me know how it goes.

    Hi Andrew!

Unfortunately, the backup didn’t work properly – so I’m out. Am I now running on the updated version of Vantage so this doesn’t happen again?

    Thanks.

    Hi, I Work Here

Really sorry about this. Rolling back would have been ideal. Confirmed, this won’t happen again. In updated Vantage at Appearance > Home Page you should be able to click “Edit as a page” link at the top. It’ll take you to Pages > Home. You can manage your home page from either location.

Let me know if I can can assist with anything further.
