Custom colors for the FontAwesome Icon Set

11 years ago · Last reply by Dave LeBlanc 11 years ago

Is it possible to adjust these colors?

I have been looking at the fontAwesome CSS etc, and before I risk wasting any further time, I thought I might ask to see if there was eitehr an easy way, or find out if it is impossible.

I suppose the hard work around would be to create wholy new icons and then adjust the CSS to point at the relavant file… but… boring to the Nth degree there.

Thanks

    Hi Brian

    You can adjust the color for any Font Awesome icon in Vantage via CSS. For example, if you are running the home menu link icon, the CSS to change that would be:

    /* Home Icon */
    .icon-home:before {
    color: red;
    }

    To be clear that selector should be inserted under Appearance > Custom CSS.

    Thanks, I probably ought to have thought of that from the word ‘go’. But thanks for pointing that out for me.

    Update: I actually tweeked the icon widget php to add input fields for box-shadow, icon color and icon text-shadow if that is of interest. My ambitious amateur abilities only, not a pro. ;-)

    Nicely done. Greg should be launching a widget soon called the Featured widget (or similar name) which is basically a stand-alone plugin with it’s own “Circle Icon” widget. It’s an expansion upon the current widget.

    Please make a backup of your work as I don’t believe that’s upgrade safe.

    Here we go Brian, very recently launched, see what you think:

    Andrew,
    http://wordpress.org/plugins/so-features-widget/ is not a working link. Is Features widget you mentioned here in the new Widget bundle?

    • Greg Priday Staff 11 years, 8 months ago

      Yeah, you’ll find the features widget inside the bundle. Originally we wanted to have both the stand alone and the bundled version, but this was against the plugin directory rules, so we just went with the bundle option.
