Custom Code Disappearing

By kwsm, 7 years ago. Last reply by Alex S, 7 years ago.

So whenever I paste custom HTML into the page builder on the ‘text’ tab and click done > update, the code shows on the live site but when I go back into the page builder / editor (in text mode) some of the code disappears? Any thoughts why that might be happening and how to stop it?

    Hi Kwsm,

Did you, at any time, open the visual tab? I ask as the second you do that TinyMCE/WordPress will very likely filter the code and remove the HTML. What is the HTML/JavaScript you’re adding? It’s possible it may have been filtered on save.

When you’re adding code to your editor, I would recommend using the Custom HTML widget instead of the SiteOrigin Editor widget.

Ok, thanks. I’ve disabled the TinyMCE/WordPress plugin and it is still happening. I go to the SiteOrigin Editor widget and click ‘text’ then paste in the HTML code below. Once I click save, the eidtor reverts back to ‘Visual’ instead of ‘Text’. When I open ‘Text’ again, the code is gone. Super annoying.

The two href links stay there but the

<div class="social-links"> is gone. Any thoughts?

    Hi Kwsm,

Thanks. I’ve logged this as a bug.

In the meantime, I would recommend switching to the Custom HTML widget to add your HTML – sorry about this!
