CSS/Display Errors Pagebuilder + Vantage Premium – Pagebuilder switches to WP Visual Editor

By Rhys, 9 years ago. Last reply by Andrew Misplon, 9 years ago.

Hi there,

I recently moved websites from my development server to main server, and noticed that one of my pages built with pagebuilder has broken, and all my pagebuilder content (rows and widgets) have switched into the standard WordPress visual editor. This has caused the display and design of the page to mess up.

See comparison:
Development server >> http://stage.websitescantik.com/events/
Live server >> http://www.peoplepotential.com/events/

After finding this issue, I went pack in and painstakingly re-built the page in page-builder, and it was displaying correctly in ‘preview’ however when publishing, it reverted back to the broken display and saved in the WordPress visual editor with much frustration :S

I can’t seem to figure out the problem, since its not replicating on my development server and all the other pages built in pagebuilder have had no issues.

Any help would be much appreciated. Many thanks

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Rhys

Sorry to hear about the hassle.

Exporting Page Builder content is, unfortunately, a known issue. For a full run through of the advised methods of export, please see: Thread: I’d like to move my website that’s using Page Builder, what’s the best method?.

Summary: Best method is to use Duplicator (https://wordpress.org/plugins/duplicator/)

That said, we’ve had many users successfully move Page Builder content successfully via database export/import. I think a problem might arise in the character set or general settings chosen when exporting the database.

There isn’t a fix we know of to sort the problem out once it’s occurred. If you have both sites still running, then ideally you’d go back and redo the process. The quickest method would be with Duplicator.

Thanks for the reply Andrew, I appreciate you letting me know about the issue. I was aware of the issue before however duplicator would not run on my new server so I had to revert to a manual database export/import. It seemed to work fine :-) Just the one page had the issues.

Not sure if it helps, but I identified the charecter that was causing issues ( it was ▪ ) . Once I removed this from the page it reverted back to the normal display as on the development server. Just in case anyone else is experiencing the same issue this might help..
