CSS Stylesheet no longer working

By alismith98, 7 years ago. Last reply by Alex S, 7 years ago.

I’m using the SiteOrigin North Theme. I recently updated the theme, which caused my child theme stylesheet to stop working. I had created a child theme, but once I updated the North Theme, some of the my CSS changes disappeared from the live website. I just switched back to the parent theme, but the stylesheet of the parent theme isn’t working either. When I attempt to change the CSS elements back to what they should be, none of the changes show in the live website.

What changes were included in the most recent North Theme update that could cause this issue? And, how to I fix it?

I was able to find a work-around: If I place the CSS changes into the Appearance > Customize > Additional CSS section of the North Theme, then the CSS changes appear in the live website. Any changes made within the stylesheet itself or by using the SiteOrigin CSS editor plugin do not appear in the live website.

Should I refrain from updating the North Theme in the future? Even though I have a child theme, updates are altering the CSS of that child theme.

    Thanks for your help,
    Alison

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Alison,

That’s odd. Can you please send me a copy of your child theme (you’ll need to upload it to a third party hosting site like teknik.io, Google Drive, DropBox, etc)? I suspect there’s something up with your child theme which is why the styling isn’t working as desired. Why the parent styling wasn’t working when you reverted to the parent I’m not too sure but it appears to be working without issue now though so that’s odd. Hm. Actually, based on the following line I suspect you may have a caching issue

Any changes made within the stylesheet itself or by using the SiteOrigin CSS editor plugin do not appear in the live website.

Are you using any caching plugins or do you have server side caching or anything like that?
