CSS no longer working

My CSS Site Origin plugin has recently stopped working and it is not holding the changes that I previously made. In the past, I have changed the size font of my home page banner and the width of one of my footers. Until recently, this change has held but when looking at my page now it is no longer reflecting these changes even though the CSS is in place. I can go back into the editor and redo these changes, which it shows in real time while in the editor, but when I save it reverts back to the page before the edit.

I’m trying to launch my page and this is holding me back. I love using your plugin. Can you help?

    Hi Vegeta,

Do you have a public URL where we can take a look at what’s going on?

Hello Alex. Thanks for getting back to me. Currently, I have the Maintenance Mode on because of the issues I’ve been having but I can make it visible for a short time if you need to view it. I need to get this fixed so please let me know the best course of action and we can coordinate something.

I appreciate your response and your help. Have a good weekend!

    Hi Vegeta,

Can you please make the page public so I can inspect it?

Alternatively, would it be possible for you to create a temporary admin account for us so we can log in and take a look? This will prevent the need for disabling the maintenance gate.

    Hi Vegeta,

Thanks. SiteOrigin CSS looks to be working without issue. To clarify, which CSS are you having issues with? And where can I see the results (or lack thereof) on your website?

Thanks for the follow up, Alex. I don’t have a background in coding so I’ll try to be as descriptive as possible.

The hope page has a Heading and a Subtitle. I had previously set the font of the opening banner, “Find the perfect place in Hawai’i…” to a font of 30 so it would be the focus of the page but so the first line wasn’t too big that it would have to wrap the text to fit on the page. Making three lines of text where I only wanted one. I can go back into the editor and select the font size again, and save the changes, but it isn’t taking effect when I go back to the home page on the front end.

The theme that I am using from Geodirectory has four footer widgets. Previously, I deleted the content in the second and third widget and only left content in the first and forth. I used your plugin to change the width of the remaining two widgets to fill in the page with equal widths. I have gone into the editor to try to change the widths again, but when I go into the editor, it shows the widths that I had previously set and everything looks fine.

I hope that makes sense. I have screen shots but I’m not sure how to add them here. I appreciate your help.

    Hi Vegeta,

I’m not too sure what’s adding this CSS, but the following selector .sd .featured-area h1.entry-title is being used to change the size of that text. I suspect due to it being minified that’s its being output later than what your CSS is so your CSS is being ignored due to the same specificity but simply output later.

So the reason why the CSS is working as desired when in the preview is due to the slight variation in resolution due to the size of the preview window – it’s preventing more specific CSS from kicking in. I would recommend replacing your selector and using something like .footer-widgets.containerdiv and consider using !important to prevent other CSS from your theme from overriding it (although I don’t think it’ll be as specific as the provided CSS).

Thanks for following up, Alex. The other CSS was added by the developer of the theme so I’ll pass along your input so they can look at it and fix it.

I appreciate all of your help and I hope you have a good day! Once again, great plugin!
