Hi,
I’m a happy user of your free theme template North. I know it’s not uncommon for people to delete the credits at the bottom, but I believe in giving credit where credit is due, so I always leave the ‘Theme by SiteOrigin’ (or other source) mention in the footer of the site, including the link to your website. I do make one change, however: I add code to open the link in a new window. Now I have noticed that after the latest theme update this has been restored to opening in the same window again. I think that’s not cool. Can you please refrain from doing that with future updates? Thanks!
Kind regards,
Theo
Hi Theo,
Unfortunately, when you update a theme or a plugin, WordPress will remove all previous files and replace them with the newest version. As a result, any changes you make to the core theme files will be lost on update. To avoid this, you need to use a child theme
– here’s a basic SiteOrigin North child theme.
I’ll bring up the idea of setting the link to open in a new window with Andrew.
Thanks, Alex. I would appreciate that.
Meanwhile I’ll sort of solve it with the ‘Real-Time Find & Replace’ plug-in.
