I want to disable the Header on all my pages and then create my own. I thought I could do that by making my own Layout. Is there a way to do this?
I’m using a child theme of Unwind so I’ve already disabled the Header on my Home Page. I’ve created a “Header” page that I thought I could include on those pages I want my custom header on buy I’m not seeing exactly how to do this.
I don’t know if this is the right way but I created a page called “Header” and added a few rows|columns|widgets and then saved it. I then created a new page and selected “Layouts” and “Clone Page” and selected my “Header” page and inserted it. Is this the intended way to create my one layouts (or template or whatever I should call it)?
My way isn’t ideal because if I make a change to my “template” it doesn’t automatically propogate to all my pages using it. I have to go into each page and delete the section and re-clone it. Still need a way to make a layout and apply changes to all pages using it.
Hi Tim,
Hm. I would unhide the header and then navigate to WP AdminAppearanceWidgets and add a Layout Builder to your Masthead widget area. When a widget is placed in this area everything in the masthead (everything below the menu but before the content) will be hidden in favor of showing the contents of the widget.
To make this masthead only appear on certain pages you’ll need to use a plugin like WooSidebars. Be sure to give the documentation a read.
