Continue Reading –> displayed with “More” instruction

My “Posts” page “News/Events” displays my posts as required but then I get a white space about 3 lines high with “Continue Reading –>” displayed after each post.

I have read that the “More” instruction will give the Continue Reading –> ability but as far as I can see I haven’t used this anywhere.

I would like to remove the “Continue Reading” and also remove or reduce the height of the white divider space.

    Hi Aussiebill

    Head to each post and check that there isn’t a more tag inserted. In the Visual tab it’ll look like a dotted horizontal rule. If you click over to the Text tab it’ll look like this:

    <!--more-->

    Try removing the more tag and instead inserted an excerpt in the excerpt field. If you can’t see this field under the Visual editor, click Screen Options top right and click the Excerpt checkbox.

    I have checked as per your suggestion but I don’t have these tags in the actual post.
    The “Continue Reading” is displayed in the white area after each post and I cannot find where I can edit this,
    I have used the Developer tool in Chrome to locate the line in the left side box, as below,
    Can I edit this out somehow?
    .
    Continue Reading

    Also, as mentioned in my earlier post, is there a way to reduce the white padding area between each post please?
    Thanks
    Bill

    Re my post a few moments ago –
    The line of code I included has “run” instead of displaying.
    I will paste it again in quotes marks and hope it displays the actual content.
    “”Continue Reading“”

    Thanks for the info. I took a look now, the Continue Reading doesn’t appear when I create a new test post. It’s possible that a plugin being used is causing this to be added. However, even when I add a test post a blank bottom bar still appears. Looking at what you want for this page, that would still need to be removed. So what I can suggest is trying the following under Appearance > Custom CSS:

    /* Post Bottom Bar */

    .post .below-content { display: none; }

    Just paste that in there.
