Contact formular responds with error

Hello,

I am receiving the following error when committing the contact formular on my website (see screenshot here: https://grundmann-maschinenbau.de/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/Screenshot_Error.png).

“Error sending email, please try again later.”

Do you have an idea what’s wrong?

It used to work and I had nothing changed.

Best,
Eric

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Eric

Thanks for posting your question. You can perhaps start the investigation by logging out and initiating a password reset. Does the password reset link email reach you?

    Hello Andrew,

thank you for getting back on this. You’re right, obviously it’s not possible reset the password.

What’s your idea on the problem?

    Thank you,
    Eric

    Hi Eric

You can perhaps check with your hosts to see why PHP Mail isn’t working with WordPress. Alternatively, you could set up sending using a third-party provider and a plugin like https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-mail-smtp/. Unfortunately, this isn’t a quick process.

    Hello Andrew,

    thank you for your message.

I checked with our host Strato. They said, they can not help with this and it’s a wordpress problem.

What I did now is switching to the current php version 8.1. But this didn’t help.

Could you explain in more detail, what you mean with “PHP Mail isn’t working” – do have a guess why this could happen?

    Best,
    Eric

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Eric

PHP Mail is the function the server uses to send email by default. If you want to log your outgoing emails, you can try a plugin like https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-mail-logging/. If you can’t get your WordPress to install to send password reset emails which should be happening by default, you can consider using SMTP or a service like SendGrid.com to send emails https://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-use-smtp-server-to-send-wordpress-emails/.
