Conflict between Vantage and Gutenberg

7 years ago · Last reply by Andrew Misplon 7 years ago

I refer you to this issue for a conflict discovered four days ago between Gutenberg (since version 3.9.0) and the Hueman Free theme. The very same problem occurs when using your Vantage theme: a giant space opens above embedded video’s. This was tracked to both the theme and Gutenberg manipulating the block holding the video.

Hey Joop :) Good to hear from you. I don’t see FitVids mentioned there specifically but that’s most likely where the issue is. Many themes use FitVids to handle responsive videos. If you activate Jetpack you’ll see the problem goes away. That’s because when Jetpack is activated we defer to the Jetpack Responsive Videos module. We’ll do the same for Gutenberg in the next update. If you need an immediate fix, activating Jetpack will resolve the issue.

Vantage has a FitVids setting. You can go to CustomizeTheme SettingsLayout and disable Enable FitVids.js.

Thank you, that is really helpful and quite OK for now. I look forward to the next update!
