“comment function” does not appear

Hi,

among my post the comment function is not displayed.

There is no custom css setting and in the article the comment function is still activated. What can I do? I am not aware of turning them off somehow.

I would like to receive the comment function.

    Hi Sascha

    FIrst of all enable comments globally in your WordPress admin, navigate to Settings > Discussion. When you’re on a specific post or page, you can enable comments in the discussion metabox. Just check both options and comments will be displayed on the page.

    Hi Sascha

    Would it be possible for you to create a temporary admin account for us so we can log in and take a look? You can create the account with the following email address:

    [email protected]

    Just navigate to Users > Add New in your WordPress admin. Enter siteorigin for the username and [email protected] for the email address. Make sure you’ve selected Administrator for the role and enabled the “Send Password” field so we receive the details.

    Once we’re finished taking a look, you can delete this account. We’ll let you know when to do that.

    Sorry to hear about the hassle. I’ll jump in here if everyone is cool with that.

    Global settings. Sounds like you’ve confirmed that your global settings are ON for comments. That’s at Settings > Discussion. These settings are only applicable for new posts though, not existing posts.

    Let’s try work this post as an example: http://www.picturesmile.de/360-panorama-stichen-mit-ptgui-krpano/. Please try editing that post, click Screen Options top right and ensure the Discussion box is checked. Then scroll down to below the Visual tab and make sure the Discussion options there are also checked.

    (A quick reminder that Screen Options only control what we see when editing in WordPress, they don’t control what the user sees on the front end).

    If you don’t have any luck with the above, given the forum private email issues, please email through a set of temporary login details to me at: [email protected]. Please send the email from yourself and include a link back to this thread so I can reference everything.

    Thanks. I took a look now and I’m not sure why this is happening. Please could you try the following:

    1. Create a new posts, do comments work there?

    2. If not we’ll need to try troubleshoot.
    * Switch back to Vantage parent, re-test.
    * Temporarily de-activate all non-SiteOrigin plugins and re-test.

    100%, I didn’t see any problems with your child theme. I’m out of ideas right now. It’s a quick test worth trying. Briefly please try switching back to the parent.

    Please check the options in WP-Optimize plugin. One of that plugin’s features:

    Check on the Settings page of WP-Optimize. When I enable trackbacks there I get a success message. But when I try enable comments it says:

    Kommentare aktiviert in allen aktuellen und bereits veröffentlichten Beiträgen
    Einstellungen aktualisiert

    Even though I said Activate not De-activate. Perhaps you can take a look at this plugin. It’s possible the problem is here.

    I did a quick test earlier, which if you’re feeling up for, you can also try.

    Try de-activating all plugins.
    Switch to the default theme Twenty Fifteen which I installed.

    The problem seems to persist. I didn’t this setup with a new post, perhaps you could.

    If you get the same results with the above test it means we’re looking at a core WordPress issue and would most likely need to look at replacing all WordPress files. Basically doing a manual update. After that, I’m not sure, we might need to consider a re-install.

    Okay, now that was working about an hour.

    All plugins are disabled and the theme is activated. No comment box in old Article.

    For some mistakes and Footer text has been completely deleted after I have the correct them reactivated.

    Hi Sascha. Sorry not quite with you there. The final test we could do to confirm the WordPress core is having a problem would be to turn all plugins off, switch to Twenty Fifteen and add a new post. If all the settings are saved correctly and this new post doesn’t show a comment form we’ll know we’re working with a problem in the core.

    A new post is created with all enabled plugins and in its current state with comment. It is working. It’s all about the old post. Since the suddenly no longer displayed.

    Thanks for clearing that up for us Sascha. I’m unfortunately out of ideas. When I tested I de-activated all plugins and switched to Twenty Fifteen. I re-checked that comments were on. In that very default state (default theme, no plugins) comments still didn’t show for existing posts. I’ve consulted with Greg here at SiteOrigin, he’s unfortunately also out of ideas beyond what we’ve already tried.

    Updating WordPress manually might be the next option to try:

    So, the problems are getting bigger.

    I made a mauelles update. That all works. But do not comment box.

    Additional problem is now I can not make updates Maehr. I get error messages. Both theme updates, as well as plugin updates.

    The errors displayed most likely relate to folder or file permissions with your host. If you did reinstall wordpress via FTP as Andrew suggested earlier then it may not have set the correct permissions on the folders/files.

    WordPress default permissions should be as follows.

    All FILES should have permissions set to 644
    All DIRECTORIES (i.e. folders) should have permissions set to 755

    Especially check the permissions for the WP-Content, WP-Content\Plugins and WP-Content\Themes directories.

    We’ve located the cause of the problem. Greg jumped in with fresh ideas today and spotted the problem. We also switched the admin language over to English for bit. This option was checked:

    Automatically close comments on articles older than 14 days

    Un-checking it resolves the problem.

    My sincere apologies for not thinking of this or spotting this earlier. Very embarrassing! So sorry for all the time wasted.
