Circle Icons messed up

Notice: This thread is over two years old; the information may be outdated. Please consider creating a new thread if you require free support. If you have an active SiteOrigin Premium license, you can email our premium support desk at [email protected].

The Circle Icons do not show the proper Symbols but 4 letters/numbers. An example can be found at http://zahrnt.com/kreativ-denken. The problem occurred after transferring the site from my localhost to my domain.

This issue has already been discussed (https://siteorigin.com/thread/circle-icons-not-working-properly/#comment-44904). I did what the user Cory Hecht did: “I have checked this on multiple computers. I am using chrome on windows right this second. I have no updates available. I de-activated all of the plugins and I cleared the cache. It’s still showing up as boxes for me. And I don’t have any caching plugins.” (except for clearing the cache, about which I am no sure how it could matter as the problem exists with multiple computers/browsers, though not on all of them)

What else could I do? Thanks!

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Valentino

    This is most likely the issue. Font Awesome is being loaded from the following url:

    http://zahrnt.com.213-203-203-211.net-publics.de/wp-content/themes/vantage/fontawesome/css/font-awesome.css?ver=3.2.1

    Please head to Settings > General and take a look at your Site and WordPress URL’s. Once the above URL matches your site’s URL the problem should resolve.

    Hi Andrew, I copied http://zahrnt.com.213-203-203-211.net-publics.de/wp-content/themes/vantage/fontawesome/css/font-awesome.css?ver=3.2.1 into Settings > General > URL not really believing that this would be the solution … but what happened was quite regrettable: The entire site is messed up and I can no longer log in to the dashbord to make changes. Instead I am being transferred to a page that describes Font Awesome. How can I undo this???

    Hi, I Work Here

    Phew ok let me think for a second. What I said was to ” take a look at your Site and WordPress URL’s”, not to copy that url in there. Apologies that you thought that. I’ll be with you now.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Ok, we can resolve this with FTP access. Please login to your server and copy wp-config.php from your root folder to your desktop. Then at the bottom copy these lines in:

    define('WP_HOME','http://example.com');
    define('WP_SITEURL','http://example.com');

    Swap out example.com with your url. Save and re-upload, that should sort this out.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Basically, what I was highlighting is that Font Awesome was being loaded from a url different to your site url. The different url is being set at Settings > General so I was indicating to go check those urls and make sure they are the same.

    Let me know you come along here.

    Hi, I Work Here

    My bad, I do see how what I said was confusing. Sorry about that!

  7. 11 years, 21 days ago Valentino Zahrnt

    Great to hear back from you so quickly! I tried
    define(‘WP_HOME’,’http://zahrnt.com.213-203-203-211.net-publics.de’);
    define(‘WP_SITEURL’,’http://zahrnt.com.213-203-203-211.net-publics.de’);
    and
    define(‘WP_HOME’,’http://zahrnt.com’);
    define(‘WP_SITEURL’,’http://zahrnt.com’);
    and the 2 combinations of the shorter and the longer URL.
    The result was that I got to the normal log-in page (rather than one where everything was on the left side). But it does not recognize my password any longer.

    Hi, I Work Here

    So sorry about the confusion here. Ok so can you get to the login page? If so can you use the password reset link?

    I should add that I didn’t use FTP but changed them directly in the Paralles Plesk backend. But I guess that doesn’t matter.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Yeah file manager or FTP, either is fine.

  11. 11 years, 21 days ago Valentino Zahrnt

    Reset didnt’t change anything. But I made an interesting observation: If I enter a wrong password, the box in the middle is shaking and I get a notification, if I enter the correct one, it is simply erased.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Are you logging in here?

    http://zahrnt.com.213-203-203-211.net-publics.de/wp-login.php

    Yes, I did receive an email and reset the password.
    Yes, this is where I try to log on.

    I currently have this in config-php

    define(‘WP_HOME’,’http://zahrnt.com.213-203-203-211.net-publics.de’);
    define(‘WP_SITEURL’,’http://zahrnt.com.213-203-203-211.net-publics.de’);

    Hi, I Work Here

    Can you perhaps email me your WordPress login details so I can check quickly.

    [email protected]

  16. 11 years, 21 days ago Valentino Zahrnt

    It’s on its way to South Africa.

  17. 11 years, 21 days ago Valentino Zahrnt

    If that helps, I can also send you the details of my backend.

  18. 11 years, 21 days ago Valentino Zahrnt

    Hooray! The page is back – and the icons are fine.
    Time for a late lunch :)
