Having difficulties creating child theme with vantage premium

if I want to mod the php like

can i do in theme or only in child?

after creating a child theme,
the css doesn t work and the custom css of original theme doesn t work anymore

what file should I import in child to make it work?

using Child Theme Configurator plugin

    my child css doesnt work
    same for the one you sent me
    when child unable the custom css function of Vantage doesnt work either
    and it reset costum menu

    Unfortunately, when you activate a child theme you’ll need to redo Appearance > Menus, Customizer and Widgets settings. This is an expected result.

    Please can you send through a link and we’ll take a look. Please let me know what you’re looking to do with CSS and let me know which page it applies to etc. Thanks.

    got it working now
    had to get used to the builder
    as soon as you make a change in builder box it change the css

    nevermind
    the file to use for child footer is partfootyer.php not footer.php
    working now
