I understand that the default for WooCommerce when a product is out of stock is to add a sticker saying ‘Read more’. I would like this to read as ‘Out of stock’. I don’t want to remove the listing as I refill stock from time to time.
I have researched many forums and I’m not sure how to go about this. I know little about coding but I have tried following tutorials, the problem is none of the instructions work or are detailed enough for a beginner e.g. alot of people suggest adding specific code to functions.php but not which function.php file (there are many throughout my files) and which line to add it to. Others state a specific line in a file to change but when I look up the file the line is different to what they are saying it should look like. Others say to use loco translate but don’t then explain specifically how to do this to change ‘read more’ to ‘out of stock’.
I’m hoping someone might be able to help me out here and give me a suggestion for what to do that a beginner can understand and follow. I’m writing here as I use SiteOrigin as my theme and thought there may be code within the theme that I can edit.

Unfortunately, this isn’t a change you’d make with our SiteOrigin CSS plugin. The functions.php file being referred to is the functions.php in your child theme. If you aren’t using a child theme then you shouldn’t edit your theme’s functions.php file. In that case, you can use the https://wordpress.org/plugins/code-snippets/ plugin.
