Andrew,
Hello. Used the code below I found in another thread and added it to my child-theme to fix a frustrating problem I had with the MetaSlider (the free version), cropping an image regardless of how I set the size in in MetaSlider controls and sharpened the image to match what I see in GIMP.
/* Vantage Theme, remove max width/layer centering. Usage: Copy and paste this code into Appearance > Custom CSS or your own Custom CSS module. */ body.responsive.layout-full #page-wrapper .metaslider .full-container, .layout-full #page-wrapper .metaslider .full-container { max-width: none; }
Nice and sharp and complete, not cropping, but the height and width controls in MetaSlider seem not to work. That’s not a big issue, at least right now. I can just size in GIMP and go on from there.
My questions are will this affect MetaSlider Pro when I add it, and where exactly is the original code I changed?
I don’t see it at all in the Vantage Theme’s CSS. I guess I shouldn’t care because it fixed my slider issues, but I drive me nuts not to know.
Thanks for your help.
Hi Dave
In the main Vantage stylesheet you’ll find a heading that reads:
There you’ll find Meta Slider related selectors.
As far as I know, this fix should still hold for Meta Slider Pro.
Is even the height setting in Meta Slider not taking effect? Are you running a caching plugin?
Hi Andrew, and thanks for the prompt response.
Sorry, I was not entirely accurate on adjusting the height.
Adjusting the height setting in MetaSlider does work if Auto Crop is selected, but it won’t be precise. The height will change, but not to the number of pixels selected. In other words, if a height of 200px is selected, the outcome may be a height of 325px.
If the fix is removed and Auto Crop is selected, the height selected will be the height displayed.
For now, I am going to live with the fix.
Thanks for the extra info there. I’m afraid I’m a little out of my zone here. This fix which corrects some built in Vantage styling is actually from the guys over at Meta Slider. It might be worth running this past them. They’re usually super on the ball. Sorry I don’t have more here.
Thanks, Andrew. Once I get these alligators whacked, I plan getting the pro version, not that getting the pro verision is a big deal. From demos I have seen on YouTube, it looks easy enough to add layers and such, but I want to give it some time to get it right.
For sure. Definitely worth getting everything sorted before you upgrade.
