Caption will not show under image gallery

11 years ago · Last reply by Andrew Misplon 11 years ago

Hi following instructions from another thread, I have inserted a gallery, but the caption doesn’t show up under the image even though it does within the visual composer while editing.

On the other thread about this, you advise to run these modules from Jetpack:
http://jetpack.me/support/tiled-galleries/ but I can’t find this exact plugin- I’ve installed the jetpack plugin but this doesn’t seem to offer the ’tiled gallery’ option.

I do use the RPS Image gallery plugin which means that the images can link to a page & once clicked on it shows a caption and links to the next image, but I’d like the caption to show up before the image is clicked on too. Please advise.

PS – I am using Visual editor widget and have then inserted Media – Gallery. I am wanting wording to appear under the images. Wording appears under the images in the gallery when looking in Visual composer.

    Hi eliselangley

Tiled Galleries and Carousel are great Jetpack modules, I’d still recommend trying them. They can be activated from Jetpack > Settings.

I just tested out a regular gallery and I do see a caption being displayed. I used the Visual Editor widget, clicked Add Media, created a gallery and ensured my caption for each image was inserted in the image’s Caption field.

Can you perhaps re-check the above, making sure the Caption field is filled in for each image and not just the Title. You could also test without the RPS plugin activated, the steps I took above are without that plugin being used.

If you test out Jetpack Tiled Galleries, check out the Square Tiles option when creating your gallery. That’ll give you the caption, displayed over the image, on hover, pretty cool.
