Can’t seem to add lightboxes

I’m trying to add a lightbox to a page and have installed two plugins (Lightbox and Lightbox Plus Colourbox) but although these both appear to be fully and correctly installed and show up under Appearance, I can’t find a way to actually add a lightbox in to a page. There seems to be no way to do this from the Pages section where I would normally make any edits and if I go in to either of the downloaded lightboxes via the Appearance route, all I can do is edit the settings.

I’m sure that this is an error I’m making and that I’m missing a very simple step, so any advice on how to do this step would be great!

Thanks!

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Hanna

Lightbox should appear when any image is clicked without any further settings. Please try disabling lightbox plus colourbox and test your images again as there may be a conflict between the two.

Let us know how you get on

Sorry, I didn’t fully understand what you meant by ‘when any image is clicked’ – do you mean an image already uploaded on to a page? I haven’t uploaded any images to the page, what program should I use to do this if I cannot locate either lightbox program?

    Thanks,
    Hanna

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Hanna

You upload your images either through the Media Library built in to WordPress by clicking the Add New button at the top of the page, or from the page editor by clicking the Add Media Button above the visual editor.

Once you have added an image to the page and published it, the lightbox plugin will take over, so that when browsing your site, if you click on an image of any size, the lightbox will open and display the full size image as a page overlay.

I would definitely remove the lightbox plus colourbox plugin as that may conflict with the other lightbox you have installed.

    Hope this helps

So I have uploaded many images, both before and after installing the lighbox program. These were all done the normal way through page builder. However, the lightbox doesn’t seem to interact with them at all; when I click on the pictures nothing happens.

I also don’t actually want to use the lightboxes for pictures, I want them to be links that then open word documents, as on the bottom of this page when you click on client list (an old website of mine that was created for me by someone else). I don’t know if that is relevant right now, so please ignore it if it isn’t – I’m sure once I can find how to connect my site to a lightbox then I can figure out the rest!

As a note, I have removed Lightbox Plus Colourbox and tried uploading new images, but it has made no difference.

    Thanks again!

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Hannah

I have been looking into this and have found no lightbox plugins which will allow you to view word documents except for this one

    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/google-document-embedder/

which works through the google docs interface.

Hope this points you in the right direction

Unfortunately I haven’t made any progress at all as I have been able to proceed due to multiple issues that have come up following an update. This is very much the first thing on my list as soon as I am able to edit my site again.
