Can’t get galleries to display full-width?

I’m using snapshot to put together a portfolio. I’m using page-builder for each page (using page not post) but when I try to put a gallery together, it shows up in a super thin column: http://i.imgur.com/rsVDDw9.png

Testing it with text, though, as you can see the text goes full-width. http://i.imgur.com/IFKf4Mw.png

I turned off mosaic from jetpack and got this: http://i.imgur.com/HvBnwbC.png a little closer but the shapes are out of wack??

I tested it out on a “post” page and got this weird double gallery thing: http://i.imgur.com/NlVz5c0.png

These are my media settings: http://imgur.com/UpKKHf4

How can I fix this?

Sorry for images, the site itself is in theme tester mode so it’s not live.

Hi Izzie. in your first screenshot is that page definitely using the Full Width page template?

    Yes.
I noticed I can’t get posts to do full-width so I used a page to try and do it that way and it still won’t go full width with the galleries.

I did both visual editor and page builder to test and in both cases I still get that weird issue unless I turn of mosaic galleries.

Is your site live? Please send through a link to a post or page concerned and I’ll take a look.

Actually the above link is a custom portfolio post type that doesn’t give me the option to make it full-width.
    Here’s an actual page set-up to be full-width : http://www.isapagani.com/index.php/isa-pagani-design/
    And here’s a blog-post with a gallery: http://www.isapagani.com/index.php/2014/05/isa-pagani-design/

In all those instances though the gallery comes out super thin – and sometimes (apparently without any sort of consistency) some of the images will appear in a second column next to the gallery

I don’t understand what’s happening with all that.

    Anyone? : /

I hate to nag but I really need this to look professional before I send it to people.

Hi. I can get a thumbnail gallery to go full width in my demo. If you look at the source of the gallery here: http://www.isapagani.com/index.php/2014/05/isa-pagani-design/ you’ll see that it is being restricted to 435px. That’s not the standard WordPress thumbnail gallery doing that, it’s the Jetpack Tiled Gallery Module. Have you take a look at the gallery settings on the page concerned and tried another setting?

Head to the gallery, hover over it, click the Pencil icon to edit and try changing the type from tiled mosaic to thumbnail grid. That works on my side.

    Hey, thank you!
That definitely fixed the width problem.

It’s looking better but the thumbnails are all really wonky. They are overlapping each other or not cropping right.
    I’ll try to find a gallery plug-in.

Please send me a link to a gallery doing this and I’ll take a look. Or just a screenshot.

    Sure thing: http://www.isapagani.com/index.php/2014/05/isa-pagani-design/

I changed the thumbnail settings to make them smaller (300 x 250 I believe) and that helped the overlapping issue.

They are still acting a little weird, specifically the first row.

I ended up downloading a plug-in to make customizable galleries and that is working great for the pages that are on display: http://www.isapagani.com/index.php/portfolio/design-edit-ads/

So on a personal level the problem is solved.

I’d definitely be willing to play around if you want to see what is causing the odd thumbnail issues

If you’ve found a working solution then that’s great.

It’s worth running this plugin if you’ve changed media sizes a few times: http://wordpress.org/plugins/regenerate-thumbnails/.
