Hi Stephen,
Do you currently have Wordfence installed?
If you do:
This is likely a WordFence issue. The issue is that it’s initially very strict so things like the Learning Mode do definitely help in resolving issues like this one. However, if you want to “skip” the learning process and just use your widgets you can do so pretty easily. Go to the affected widget and open it up, don’t get “blocked” yet. Instead, open up another tab on WP AdminWordFenceLive Traffic and filter it by blocked traffic. Then make an adjustment to your button widget and you’ll get blocked. Go back to the Wordfence tab and press the whitelist param from FireWall button. This is 100% safe as the contents of the field are not at all close to what would be required for an XSS attack. (it’s really quite odd it would even suggest such a thing…).
Let me know if this helps.
If you don’t:
This is very likely a plugin conflict. Could you please try a plugin conflict test? Can you try disabling all non-SiteOrigin plugins and see if this fixes the issue? You’ll need to clear all your caches after disabling your plugins.
If it does fix the issue, then try re-enabling your plugins one by one until the issue comes back. This procedure will help diagnose which plugin is causing the issue.
Once we know that, we’ll be able to look at what might be causing the conflict and either solve the problem or help you find an alternative plugin.
Hi Alex
Thanks for your response. I do not have wordfence and I have tried removing plugins etc.
I am also having a server error. My host is not helping much. Maybe that is part of the problem?
I have been having both problems since the last upgrade of page builder
…
Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator,
[email protected] and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.
More information about this error may be available in the server error log.
Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
Hi Stephen,
That’s likely related in that case.
Are you sure this issue is related to the latest PB update? I as the last update was almost two months ago and we currently don’t have any widespread issues with the latest version. We’re more than willing to assist if it is related, we just need to be sure it is.
I updated the core and pb a couple of weeks ago and I have had the issue ever since.
Kinda confused what I get with the licence.
Hi Stephen,
Okay. So, what sort of steps has your host had you take? Do they have an exact error yet? if not, please enable WP_DEBUG which will require editing wp-config.php. If you’re unfamiliar with FTP, you’ll need to ask for help with editing this file from your hosting provider.
What license are you referring too? Do you have SiteOrign Premium (as odd as it may sound, I can’t check and can only know if you tell me)? If you do, you’re entitled to priority email support. If you would like to make use of that, please follow the instructions found on your Page: Dashboard (please refer to the support tab). Please reference this thread and include your SiteOrigin order key in the email.
Host says I have too many add on domains … LOL … haven't added any for 3 years … now all of a sudden?
Then they say update plugins … done.
Optimize databse … done.
They allowed me more memory for PHP … no difference …
I did a debug and got this:
Notice: get_currentuserinfo is deprecated since version 4.5.0! Use wp_get_current_user() instead. in wp-includes/functions.php on line 3829
Hi Stephen,
Okay, that’s a notice and can be safely ignored. Please try viewing the page that had the internal error present on as it should now show an actual error message.
Notice: The called constructor method for WP_Widget in
WPAC_Nav_Menu_Widget is deprecated since version 4.3.0! Use
__construct()
Maybe a theme issue?
Hi Stephen,
That can be ignored also. Could be. Try temporarily changing to a different theme to see if that helps.
Tried 2015 theme. Still server error. Still can't edit the pages in PB.
Hi Stephen,
Would it be possible for you to create a temporary admin account for us so we can log in and take a look?
This is a private message.
Done. But I deleted the admin. It looked like the password was public on here.
I can do it again. Let me know.
Hi Stephen,
Any emails sent to that email address are private and can only be seen by you and me. Please set up the account again.

Hi Stephen,
Thanks. This may sound like an odd question but how do you access wp-admin? I ask as I get redirected back to the home page when I view it.
I have a membership thing going on. Bottom right link in footer.
Hi Stephen,
Okay, so that’s a frontend interface. I really need to be able to access the backend area to try and replicate this issue. Is that possible?
Sorry – made you a subscriber. Fixed now as admin.
Hi Stephen,
Okay so I’ve run a few tests and it appears all Ajax (which is how the browser talks to the server without reloading) is having issues. Now, I just re-read your previous reply but can you please clarify if you ran a full plugin conflict test or not. I know you said you disabled some plugins but I really need you to try disabling all non-SiteOrigin Plugins to see if the issue persists or not. If it doesn’t, try switching to the parent theme to see if that helps.
The only plug in currently enabled is PB (and the maintenance mode) and
I still have the spinning wheels when trying to edit a page.
Hi Stephen,
Can I create a backup of your website for local testing? This will allow me to make drastic changes without it affecting your website further.
Yes. I appreciate thr help.
Okay … here is my progress on this … I think it's a host server issue … and of course they are blaming their customer … even after I have done everything they have suggested … and the site has been up for 3 years and all of a sudden there is a problem …
1. I have deactivated ALL plugins and I still get the error
2. I have rebuilt the pages with another plugin and I still get the error (I used Elementor)
3. I have optimized everything
4. All plugins are up to date
5. I have used a different iframe plugin and I still get the error
The only common denominator is the host … and their server configuration.
Waiting on them to respond now to a rather nasty email I sent them …
Alex
They migrated my websites to another server and now it seems like the problem is solved. I will monitor it but there are no more server errors. I apologize that you took time from your life to deal with this when the host should have figured it out. They have a history of blaming the customer first …
The site is a lot fast now as well.
I've asked for an explanation.
Thanks again.
Hi Stephen,
Sorry for the delay.
I’m glad you managed to resolve this issue and I’m sorry I wasn’t able to assist with resolving this issue. Let me know if you run into any further issues.
Have an awesome weekend.
