Cannot specify link color when using Word Press’ Twenty Fourteen theme

By tnyc, 6 years ago. Last reply by tnyc, 6 years ago.

Created new page
Selected Add Widget
Added “Links (blogroll)”
Selected Design option and set Links Color to dark color

(page background is white, while sidebar is black w/ white links)
Preview content created: active links are still white (copies same style from widgets instead of page style)

I’ve edited css file but I prefer to have the white links in sidebar and dark links on page, otherwise, I’ll have to switch to another template altogether, but expected to be able to set the link color as designed.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Tnyc,

Unfortunately, this is happening as a result of how the theme handles link styling. Sadly, this isn’t something that can be automatically bypassed. Sorry mate. :(

You’ll need to use CSS to override the styling so this needs to be done separately to SiteOrigin Page Builder. I’d like to help you with the CSS, but unfortunately, this is beyond the scope of the support we’re able to offer on our free forums. There is a fair amount of custom work involved.

We do offer this level of support to our premium users, so if you’d like to upgrade to SiteOrigin Premium, then I can help you over email support.

If you’d prefer not to upgrade to SiteOrigin Premium, then you can hire a WordPress developer from Codeable. They’ll charge you an hourly rate for any work done.

Thanks I finally figured out how to use the CSS Editor which I assumed would change the style for the sidebar as well, so hesitated to use it at first. I used the live CSS Editor to change just the problem area and all is fine now.

Thanks for a great tool which saved me a lot of template searching, as I tried other templates but overlooked the built in WP templates only to find it served the simplistic purpose. But then this problem arose just as I got to the end of fixing a bunch of other built-in template stuff. But last problem also fixed by your software. ?
