Hello,
Could someone please take a look at http://www.osiris-entertainment.com/ – I simply cannot get my Footer to appear, no matter which widget I use, it doesn’t show on the preview nor on the published site. I am at a loss as to what to try next.
Many thanks
Hi Charlie
Thanks for posting. Could you perhaps go to Appearance > Widgets, open the Footer widget panel and send us a screenshot? You can upload a screenshot to a site like https://imgur.com/.
Hi Andrew,
Thanks for the reply. I have uploaded the screenshot here https://imgur.com/SVpCktf (never used that site before)
At the moment there is a layout builder in there but I’ve put lots of different things in the footer and nothing worked. Never come across this before, and have build about 5 sites now with Site Origin. Thanks for your help in advance.
Thanks. If you edit the Home page via the Pages menu in WordPress and check Page Settings in the right column, is Footer Widgets enabled?
NO!!!!! It was not!!!! Thank you so much?!?!?! How infuriating!! We looked and looked and tried so many things – there are just TOOO many places in WordPress to go to!! Thank you very much that’s great!
Sorry about that. We do our best to try and strike a balance between settings and flexibility. That setting is there for landing pages mostly. You might have a page where you really want to focus on the content. Or perhaps for things like your WooCommerce Cart and Checkout pages where you want user attention on completing the process.
Glad it’s working now.
All the best :)
I wasn’t having a go at you Andrew, this is a WordPress thing not a Site Origin thing, isn’t it? Sorry!! I understand but then what I would say is that this should be enabled by default because it’s more likely that you do want a footer than you don’t want a footer. And if you don’t want one, surely you just don’t put any widgets in your footer. Or if you don’t want one on particular pages then you can untick on those pages. At least now I know that exists for next time!! It’s amazing how many hours can go into trying to solve a problem that turns out to be a tick in a box :)
Thank you again.
All the best
Thanks for the further feedback, I hear you, super frustrating to spend time on something controlled by a single setting. Footer Widgets are enabled by default. At a code level, you can see the default here: https://github.com/siteorigin/siteorigin-unwind/blob/develop/inc/settings.php#L1476. I’m not sure how they got disabled on your site. What you can do to confirm the default is go to PagesAdd New and then check Page Settings on that fresh page to see what’s going on.
Ahhhh that’s interesting, so this means that we disabled it at some point.I think it was a Site Origin pack that was installed and then modified. But that’s really interesting. Thanks again Andrew.
That makes sense. The setting might have been disabled as part of the site pack design.
If anything else comes up, please let us know.
All the best :)
Thank you very much Andrew :) I certainly shall.
