Cannot change text widget background on one page

I’m using the SiteOrigin widgets bundle (1.5.11) (Page Builder version 2.4.6). I have a couple pages; on each I’ve added rows with multiple SiteOrigin Text widgets each. On one of the pages I am able to successfully change the background color, by clicking Edit on the text widget, clicking the Design button, and selecting/entering a different background color.

However, on another page, the background color for any of the Text widgets does not change when I click Update. If I create a new widget or duplicate one, the problem exists. Interestingly, I can change the font color or the background color of the row itself, and that works.

Thanks for any help in advance. (I’m fairly new to WordPress, so it’s entirely possible I’m doing something stupid.)

    Hi Jeff,

Do you have a public URL where we can take a look at what’s going on? If you need to keep this URL private from other users, just select “Private Reply” on the bottom right of the comment box.

    Thanks Alex,

The page in question is Private Snippet

The page that does allow me to make color changes is Private Snippet. I just changed one of the backgrounds of the text widgets to red.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Jeff,

Actually, in hindsight – I didn’t need the login details. I’ve spotted the issue. The issue is that you’ve added CSS to via a plugin called WP Add Custom CSS that will automatically apply a blue background. That, by no means, is wrong but it is applied to the div after the red color is being applied. For reference, here’s a visual guide:

    Yellow is the red background.
Panel (the highlighted, blue, row) is when your CSS is being applied.

I’m not sure of the context of the CSS (as in what widgets you want to have it be applied to) so I cannot make a direct CSS recommendation. If you would like help with making a CSS adjustment, you’ll need to tell me about the context.

    CSS reference:

    Hi Alex,

Well that’s embarrassing. I’d added that about 8 months ago when I started using WordPress. My apologies. Nothing to do with SiteOrigin at all.

Many thanks for your time spent!

    Regards,
    Jeff

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Jeff,

    That’s fine mate – don’t worry about it. :)

Is there anything else I can help you with today?

    Thanks Alex,

I probably owe you a beer next time I’m wherever you are.

I could probably use an hour or two’s pair-consulting on configuring my site–CSS expertise, e.g. Do you guys offer that and if so, what’s the rate?

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Jeff,

I’m based in Brisbane, Australia. ;)

We currently do not offer that service. With that said, you may be able to find someone via Codeable that would be up for it.

Thanks for the referral, I’m engaging them for an hour or so tomorrow.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Jeff,

    :)

Let me know how it goes so I know if I should recommend them (Codeable as a whole) for pair coding in the future.

So far so good–I got some valuable insights from my Codeable consultant.
