Can you have too many metasliders which could then crash the site?

Hi
I created a home page slider, 4 slides, and then my client wanted a single stretched image at the top of every inner page. I could only get the image stretched, by using the slider. After 11 sliders created, my metaslider plugin went weird and all my slides disappeared mysteriously. So I thought I had overloaded the site by too many sliders, even though it was only one slide per each inner page. Was that the reason my plugin settings disappeared, and crashed it? I have since looked at possibly removing all those inner page slides, and just re-insert image via “add media” at the top – as per http://www.workinghealth.co.nz/wp/our-services/health-screening/ . But to do that I have to choose full width page template. which is in conflict with the need to have a side bar for some pages. what is your advice here, is there any other way I can insert an image right at the top, (where the slider goes), yet not have to use the slider to achieve it? If I just add media I can’t get it full width.

And, would swapping to this way, be less of a drag on resources? As it happens I re installed meta slider and contacted my hosters and found they were doing some server maintenance, so that might have been why I lost my slides. they are all restored now, but I am reluctant to over tax the resources again, and have it happen again. So if you think it would be safer to remove the sliders I will do that. perhaps a custom css to stretch the image?(I would have to get that code from you) :-)
Thanks gillian

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Alison

I’d start by looking at memory allocation here. The same issue occurs if you run too many plugins without enough server memory.

Try increasing the memory allocation and see if that helps:

thanks for that. I have added a plugin called Change memory limit, and upped memory to 192. (someone told me this could work ok)

And just as a matter of interest, can an image ever be inserted in a page, using the “add media” procedure, and be able to get it to stretch from screen end to screen end? So far I can only get it to stretch the middle content, i.e. 1000 px, and only without using sidebar. What if I want the pic to stretch fully, then have the page content with sidebar appearing under that? is that just not possible, without the metaslider?

    Hi, I Work Here

    For sure.

Meta Slider get’s inserted before the content container. So no, there is unfortunately no way to break out of the content container via the page or post interface. We wish there was but only saw the need once it was too late.
