Can I add an image to a WooCommerce Category page?

5 years ago · Last reply by Andrew Misplon 5 years ago

I’m using Vantage with WooCommerce. I was wondering if there was a way to add an image to the top of a Category page, beneath the title, i.e.:

[TITLE OF CATEGORY]

[THE USUAL GRID OF PRODUCT THUMBNAILS]

Do you know if that’s possible? I know how to do that with a Page, but I don’t see a way with a Category. I tried putting an HTML image tag for the image in the Description field while in Edit Category mode, but that didn’t work.

Thank you,
Helen

    Hi Helen

    Thanks for reaching out.

I don’t think this is possible without using a function (custom development) or a plugin. Here is a plugin you might try https://wordpress.org/plugins/display-category-image/.

Alternatively, here is a function that could be applied using a child theme or the Code Snippets plugin https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/woocommerce-display-category-image-on-category-archive/. The function uses the category thumbnail.

Thanks Andrew — I will look into these resources and if either of them work will let you know in this thread.
