Button widgets in row not set in same horizontal plane.

Hi

I’m using Origami Theme. I placed a SiteOrigin Layout Builder widget in my contact page and inserted three rows into this widget. The centre row has two sections. In each section I inserted a SiteOrigin Simple Button widget. When saved and previewed the buttons appear on the page as expected but are not sitting level horizontally. I’m guessing this shouldn’t be the case as I haven’t touched any settings.
Can anyone assist?

Thanks

    Hi Nomad,

    Do you have a public URL where we can take a look at what’s going on? If you need to keep this URL private from other users, just select “Private Reply” on the bottom right of the comment box.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Nomad,

    Oddly, this is a theme issue. You can fix this with some custom CSS. If you navigate to AppearanceCustom CSS, you’ll get our custom CSS editor. Please add the following CSS:

    div.panel-grid-cell {
        margin-top: 0;
    }

    You might also need to install the SiteOrigin CSS Editor.

    Thanks Alex. That’s brought them in line, can you tell me what the coding is for? Is it for the button or the widget? I’m worried now though, because if you look at the “national trails” page of my site (I’ve just changed it from draft to published so you can view it), the three images on the page are set in a row and are not lined up either. The images are 198x156px. Maybe this is too large?

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Nomad,

    The provided CSS will remove the default margin on Page Builder columns.

    Unfortunately, your website is reporting the “national trails” page as missing when navigated to via the menu.

    Thanks Alex. Oops. Now it’s published. Would really appreciate it if you had a quick look.

    Hi Alex.

    I’ve cleared the browser cache as you suggested. I’m still not seeing what you are seeing unfortunately, which is what I would expect/hope to see. Seems the problem is at my end then. Any more suggestions?

    Hi Nomad,

    Maybe try a different browser or computer?

    You’ll like this. In Firefox, Opera and Chrome, the problem exists. With Internet Explorer it’s all good. Anyway, thanks for your help with the above. Happy holidays and all that.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Nomad,

    That’s odd. I can’t replicate it any of those browsers. Hm. Could you show me a screenshot of what you’re seeing?

  12. 8 years, 7 months ago nomad stanley

    Hi Alex

    I couldn’t work out how to insert a screenshot here. I’ve posted it on the “long distance paths” page of my site.

    I’ve also been in touch with Siteground support. The transcript is below. I’ve tried using a proxy site as they suggest but still no joy. Haven’t got round to looking at the DNS settings, whatever they are! :)

    Hi

    Not sure whether this comes under your remit, but I’m having a problem viewing my website. I’m in the very early stages, playing around with page content designs. On one particular page, I’ve placed three images in a row using Page Builder. However when I view the page I see two images side by side and the third image justified to the left directly beneath one of the images above. Inspecting the page element (Firefox) reveals the images are in cells half the width of the page, the image on the left hand side of the cell, the right-hand side is blank.

    I’ve been in touch with SiteOrigin who created the theme, and they showed me a screenshot with the three images in a row as they should be. So I cleared the cache in Firefox and Chrome with no joy. Still seeing the wrong thing. I tried to view in Opera. No joy. I tried viewing in Internet Explorer. Fine! I see what I expect to see. Three in a row.

    Any ideas what I can do? Apart from keep using IE :)

    Hello Mark,

    Thank you for contacting our Help Desk.

    I have checked the case and the website Private Snippet is loading properly on my end. I tested in Chrome, FireFox, Safari. Please refer the to screenshot below:

    Private Snippet

    After that, I checked the server logs for your account/ IP address. I can confirm the IP address [/rivate]47.72.179.75[/private] is not blocked by the server firewall.

    Code:
    Searching for IP…
    Connecting to server uk21.siteground.eu…

    Private Snippet not found in the firewall.

    Upon further checks I notice that your IP address has hit a security rule. As you may know, we use a mod_security web-application firewall (WAF) in order to protect your application (website) on a server level as well – it stops known harmful requests, that could be used to damage your website. In order to disable the rule, I have added the following modules to the .htaccess file:

    Code:

    Private Snippet

    If the issue is still presented after the modification from our site could please check your local DNS settings and firewall and different PC if possible. Also, you can use a proxy tool to verify that the website is loading properly from our server:

    Feel free to contact us if you have any additional questions or if there is anything else we can assist you with.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Nomad,

    Hm. I mean it’s unlikely that you being blocked by mod_security would cause such a minor display issue – you would be more likely to run into issues with other things first.

    Can you please try replicating this issue on another device?
